Spatial and temporal differences in fecundity of Atlantic herring (<i>Clupea harengus</i>) off Nova Scotia and consequences for biological reference points

نویسندگان

چکیده

The relationships between fecundity and size of Atlantic herring (Clupea harengus) were estimated within five different spawning areas off the coast Nova Scotia in 2019 2020. Statistically significant differences relative to body weight observed among years. Fecundity-at-length on German Bank ground was 29%–36% 22%–28% lower than estimates from 2001 1970, respectively. Temporal changes weight- fecundity-at-age resulted a decrease number eggs-per-recruit (in an equilibrium unfished state) by 50% 27% egg production per tonne stock biomass (SSB) 2020 1970. Decreases SSB-per-recruit over time proportional decreases SSB at maximum sustainable yield (MSY); however, fishing mortality rate (F) MSY remained relatively stable time. Total shown be disproportional SSB. Equilibrium greater (and F lower) when using compared SSB-per-recruit. Failing account for assuming that is overestimate status.

Atlantic Sturgeon Spatial and Temporal Distribution in Minas Passage, Nova Scotia, Canada, a Region of Future Tidal Energy Extraction

In the Bay of Fundy, Atlantic sturgeon from endangered and threatened populations in the USA and Canada migrate through Minas Passage to enter and leave Minas Basin. A total of 132 sub-adult and adult Atlantic sturgeon were tagged in Minas Basin during the summers of 2010-2014 using pressure measuring, uniquely coded, acoustic transmitters with a four or eight year life span. The aim of this st...

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...
